Join our Zaouli Mask Dance workshop for a fun, energetic experience! Sweat it out with vibrant footwork and expressive moves, all while also enjoying and learning traditional drums and exploring Guro culture.
The Zaouli mask dance is a traditional dance form originating from the Guro people of the Ivory Coast in West Africa. It’s performed by dancers wearing elaborately carved wooden masks depicting the face of a beautiful woman, called ” Djela Lou Zaouli.” The dance is characterised by its intricate footwork, rapid movements and expressive gestures, often accompanied by drumming and other traditional instruments.
Duration:
6 hours total (3 hours of Drums class + 3 hours of Dance class in two days). We recommend participating in both for a more organic and complete learning experience.
