This year’s theme

“MASKS - Faces of Us” focuses on exploring the diverse cultural and artistic expressions surrounding masks: from nature’s masquerade through ancient rituals to modern-day significance with avatars and virtual reality.

An enriching afternoon event featuring visual & plastic art exhibitions from local and international artists, live dance and music performances, theatre plays and educational talks to dive together into the intricate world of MASKS.
From the origins of time, through rituals, theatre and performing art humans used masks as a way to celebrate, personify or worship the natural world so they could together transcend universal challenges and emotions.
Masks always helped us - and still do - embodying energies, hiding our identities, creating new ones and understanding ourselves.‘

A mask is a disguise that reveals as much as it conceals
Carl Jung.

Socially even without wearing masks, we still use them. Our own Egos/ Personalities and the roles we play out in life can be seen as MASKS that we use to fit in society and relate to one another, sometimes even unconsciously.

And lastly, in more contemporary times, the modern virtual world with social media profiles, avatars and much more offers another space for re-signification and infinite possibilities of masking ourselves.

We believe becoming aware of these many aspects can help us to reconsider and reflect on the ways we see ourselves, socially interact, share experiences and intimately relate to one another.

The mask is a manifestation of the duality of human nature.
Noam Chomsky.
